S E N I O R sessions

MORGAN BUTT - Camanche HS - Class of 2020

MORGAN BUTT - Camanche HS - Class of 2020

Every year, I feel like I can come up with 100 new tips and tricks for senior sessions. They are all in my head and I rarely have a chance to sit down and go through and type them out. Then I wonder if anyone will even read them. So if you are here to read this, then thank you for making me feel useful putting all of my thoughts out in a blog!

First up, WATER. Water is essential for your session. Drink lots of water the week prior to your session and during your session. Water will keep your skin fresh and you feeling great! I can stress this enough!

DRINK YOUR WATER!

Let’s talk TAN LINES! I’m the first to have a smart watch tan line and tank tan lines. But when you are on deck for getting your pictures taken, please be aware of the tan lines!

Watch tan lines: Either wear it for your session or don’t wear it at all this summer! You can wear chunky bracelets or bangles to help cover it up! It’s not always an easy edit for me and it could cost extra to edit these out! I also watch how I pose you to hide some of these!

Other tan lines: Try to wear outfits that cover most of these up! Again, editing these can be time consuming. Also, try to avoid sunburn! For pictures and for your largest organ!

MAKEUP: Even if you are the type to NEVER wear makeup, a little powder can go a long way to keep your face from looking shiny. Especially in the heat!
Keep your makeup natural looking and simple. Don’t overdo it or wear something you wouldn’t normally wear.
ALSO, the color of your face should match the color of your neck! BLEND your foundation and powder to under your chin and down your neck. There is nothing worse than having a makeup line running along your chin. I’m no makeup artist, but I do know to blend down to your neck. That’s my photographer advice!

HAIR: If you have naturally frizzy hair and you schedule your session during July in the humidity, there is not much I can do about that! I do book sessions into the fall! So plan accordingly!
Keep your hair natural looking! Don’t go overboard!

P.S. If you hire a hair and makeup artist, please let them know to keep it as natural as possible! We want your senior pictures to represent you, not a fake version of you!

OUTFITS: Depending on the package you choose, you are allowed a certain number of outfits. Keep them about you. Include your sports outfits, dresses, and casual. I would recommend one formal outfit for the yearbook! START with your formal outfit for indoor pictures before going outside and getting glossy. Then I suggest changing into your favorite outfit!

LOCATIONS: All sessions will begin at my studio. Trust me, the studio is pretty awesome! I have air conditioning and really cool backdrops! But in the backyard of my studio, I have wildflowers, tall grass, and a greenhouse! Call it the Captured by Corbin Arboretum! I also have a barn, grain bin, and a mural painting in the barn! So many options in one place! Less time traveling and more time with pictures and outfits!

I also have snacks and water in my studio! So if you are like me and get hangry, you can chill out and have a snack!

Summer sessions are filling up fast with few fall dates! Book your session online today!
